About Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE)

What is eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE)?

EoE is a disease of the esophagus (food pipe), a muscular tube through which food passes from the throat to the stomach. It is recognized by a large number of immune cells built up in the esophagus along with esophageal inflammation and damage. Over time, this inflammation and damage can cause a narrowing of the esophagus, making it very difficult to swallow, causing chest pain, and impaction (food getting stuck).

Care options for long-term management of EoE are limited. This study is designed to test a study drug that suppresses esophageal inflammation and help relieve the symptoms of EoE, which may provide long-lasting relief.
